The Federal Government Is Collecting Reams Of Data On Students Through The New Tests Aligned With The Common Core


New education standards do require new tests to accurately measure how students’ academic achievement. The two primary companies that have form the testing consortia are PARCC and Smarter Balanced. The consortia do not share personally identifiable information or student-level data with outside entities, including the federal government. The states that comprise the consortia retain control over student information, and neither the testing companies nor the federal government will have access to individual student information.
